The best yarn to get as a gift is something that you’ve picked out yourself. That’s my opinion at least. This is another skein of Malabrigo sock yarn which I’ve already turned into over half of a leg on a sock (knit on a brand new pair of Kollage square dpns even). It turns out that the pattern I’m doing on the other sock that I’ve been working on has been doing some funky cool things on the wrong side, so I’m going to intentionally do it on this one. Here’s hoping that this sock won’t end up in a state of hibernation as long as my first!

My LYS just so happens to have its anniversary on the day after Thanksgiving, so there is a sale this day every year. I don’t count it as Black Friday shopping, because it isn’t crazy low prices just for the sake of low prices, but rather for a celebration of something fantastic. Fiberphilia has now reached its fourth anniversary, and I hope there will be many more. I celebrated by picking up the rest of the yarn for my cardigan and some Lopi to create another pair of Lovikka mittens.

The LYS finally got a replacement ball-winder, so the yarn that I bought recently is now ready for knitting. Yeah, I’m too lazy to ball yarn by hand, and I kind of love the little yarn cakes that I get using the winder.

I just bought some Shelter in the colorways “sap” and “almanac”, my first ever online yarn purchase. I sometimes worry that I like Jared Flood’s stuff too much because he’s a male knitter, but really, he just makes fantastic, well-publicized things.

A friend of mine will be getting a long-promised scarf before the end of the summer.
And in sock news, I will be starting back from square one. Turns out I didn’t like the ribbing as much once I started cabling in it.
